đź“ŤDublin, Ireland 🇮🇪 : Third Time’s A Charm

The most anticipated COVID wedding was finally rescheduled successfully and we made it to Dublin to celebrate Ariel and Andy. 🍾

The most anticipated COVID wedding was finally rescheduled and we made it to Dublin to celebrate Ariel and Andy. 🍾

Day 1: In typical Ariel fashion, she had a full itinerary for us starting with the Howth Cliff Walk. Sadly, J couldn’t join us because of work. (If anyone out there wants to financially support our lifestyle so we can travel the world, this is the time to come forward!)

Views and company 10/10

After a four mile hike, we worked up an appetite. Because Howth is on the water, all the seafood is fresh. We headed to O’Connells for dinner and it did not disappoint…between the views, food, and friends, I’m happy!

Fish ‘n chips…but make it a sandwich.

We head back to the hotel and it’s a relaxing night for everyone.

Day 2: We start our day with an Irish Breakfast and head out for our hop-on hop-off tour that Ariel had planned for all of her guests (host with the most).

Stop 1: Samuel Beckett Bridge
The Famine Memorial
Stop 2: Steven’s Park
Stop 3: Trinity

After riding around all day and exploring, we were hungry (shocking), so we headed to lunch at The Duke.

We go to our hotel (Sandymount Hotel) and get ready for the welcome drinks with the bride, groom, and all of their family and friends. Side note: the amount of people that traveled to Ireland for the couple is incredibly impressive (but not surprising).

We headed back to the hotel to rest up for the wedding!

Day 3: While the girls in the wedding get ready with the bride, Kim and I explore Malahide, which is just a 45 minute train ride from our hotel. It is a small beach town that is quaint and beautiful.

Moment of honesty: we did not go here but I just loved how this place looked.

We found a small cafe within a shop and ordered some fresh looking food. There were no tables with good views so we ran out the shop with our cafe plates and made our own picnic.

Picnic view for the win

After mastering the train (the Dart) and walking around all day (I will spare you the pictures of blisters to prove it), our day away was complete. This feels like an appropriate time to add how kind the locals are. There were multiple times where either J or I looked lost and each time someone has stopped to offer help. What gems! I digress, it’s now time to get ready for the wedding! Ya know, the one planned in 2020.

Now for the wedding pictures. I tried to keep it under control but when in Ireland…right? It was a beautiful wedding held at The Intercontinental.

The Bride and Groom
This is the ONLY outfit you will not see us repeat as we backpack through Europe.
Most of you reading this know me well enough to know these two girls. For anyone who doesn’t, these two (and the not pictured bride) and I have known each other and have been friends since we were in elementary school.

Fun fact: Irish weddings are not like American weddings. The wedding went from 5pm until the DJ stopped playing at 2am. Now this is a tradition we can get behind.

We all head to bed and our trip to Dublin is just about complete.

Thanks for reading along! Stay tuned for our next post: Lahinch and Galway.

With love,
AK & J

Our trip to Ireland was perfect. Our pictures…not always as good. Enjoy some Dublin bloopers.

*Not a blooper* I simply had to add a picture of these little Irish “Hot Pockets” AKA slices. We love them!
